Charities

All the monies raised by the Nairnshire Challenge go into the Rotary Club of Nairn's Charitable Fund which is a registered Scottish Charity Number SCO 27004.

The trustees of the Fund are the office holders for the time being of the Rotary Club of Nairn.  The trustees have established a policy that the charitable funds are to be disbursed primarily to charities, projects & good causes based in Nairnshire, to national charities for their use in Nairnshire, and that a proportion of the funds (about 10%) are to be distributed to national and international charities supported by Rotary International.  The trustees have recently decided to direct significant funds towards supporting certain charities on a regular basis, and the first charity to benefit from such a commitment is the Nairn branch of the Alzheimer's Society for the sum of £10,000 over a three year period.

The 2009 Nairnshire Challenge raised almost £50,000 including Gift Aid.  The annual distribution of funds does not correspond to a particular Challenge event (the Trustees maintain reserves as a matter of prudent management).  The following received donations in the year ended 30 June 2008:
