WHAT'S INVOLVED IN THE CHALLENGE?
Participants register at Nairn Links from where they are taken by bus to the start on the B9007 Carrbridge road near Auchterteang. The Challenge begins with a journey on tracks across the wilderness of the Dava Moor to Drynachan Lodge where participants change over to bikes and follow a picturesque route through wooded Nairnshire to the seashore at the Links in Nairn.
Those who finish the Challenge will have travelled the length of Nairnshire, past its highest point to the sea.
The organisers can arrange for transport of bikes to the change over point on the evening prior to the event, but it is preferred that participants take their bikes to Drynachan Lodge themselves. Overnight security is provided for the bikes at Drynachan Lodge.
The entire route is signposted and there are manned watering stations at regular intervals. It is each participant's responsibility to ensure their own safety. Road traffic laws must be observed on public roads. Suitable footwear should be used for the foot section. For participants proposing to walk the route, walking boots are the best option.
Teams raising £800 or more will gain free entry to the 2011 event, and can nominate a charity of their choice to which half the excess sponsorship over £800 will be donated by the Rotary Club.
Entry is in teams of three individuals and all teams must pledge to raise at least £150 per team. All participants must return their individual sponsorship forms which are sent to team leaders when entry is confirmed.
Participants must be over 17 years of age on the day of the Challenge. There is an entry fee of £60.00 per team. Application for entry may be made online, by post, or in person at Nairn Post Office. Applicants will then be sent a form to complete confirming the personal details of the team and acceptance of the terms of entry, and will be given directions for payment of the entry fee.
