Sponsorship money raised every year by participants of the Nairnshire Challenge make a major contribution to the Rotary Club of Nairn Charitable Trust Fund, which in turn are then distributed to a wide range of other charities.
The Rotary Club of Nairn’s Charitable Fund is a registered Scottish Charity (SCO 27004). The Trustees are the current office holders of the club. Their policy is to distribute the charitable funds primarily to other charities, projects and good causes based in Nairnshire and to national charities that operate in Nairnshire. The Charitable Trust also distributes around 10% to national and international charities supported by Rotary International of the British Isles and Rotary International.
In every financial year the Nairnshire Challenge fundraising makes it possible for the Charitable Trust to make donations to a value up to some £5,000. In the past we have made some single donations in excess of £10,000 but each year we spread donations of between £100 and £750 to numerous causes, almost all with services or projects focused in Nairnshire. Around 10% of our donations went to national and international charities, such as Prostate Scotland and internationally; fighting polio worldwide and disaster Shelter Boxes.
