What's Involved in the Challenge?
Participants meet at Nairn Links where they are taken by coach to the starting point on the Carrbridge road near Auchterteang. The Nairnshire Challenge then begins with a journey on paths across the wilderness of the Dava Moor to Drynachan Lodge. At Drynachan Lodge participants change over to bikes and follow a picturesque route through wooded Nairnshire to the seashore at Nairn.
Those who finish The Nairnshire Challenge will have travelled the length of Nairnshire, from the highest point to the sea. The purpose of the challenge is to raise money for local charities through each team collecting their own sponsorship. When we receive your entry form we will send you your official sponsorship forms. Do not collect money on any forms other than these official forms.
There are generous prizes for the team raising the most money
*Any team raising £500 or more will have their entry fee returned.
The organisers arrange for transport of your bicycle to the change over point on the evening prior to the event although we would prefer you to take your cycle to Drynachan Lodge. We will arrange coach transport for all entrants from Naim Links to the start of the Naimshire Challenge. There will be overnight security at Drynachan Lodge.
Cycle helmets must be worn for the cycling section of the Nairnshire Challenge.
The route will be marked and you should use the markers to guide you. It is your responsibility to ensure your own safety. You must obey road traffic laws while on public roads. Please use proper footwear for the walk. Walking boots are the best option , but stout shoes would suffice. Casual shoes would not be sufficiently robust for the varied terrain. Only teams of three people may enter. All teams must pledge to raise at least £120 per team . All participants must return their individual sponsorship forms. All money raised will be pledged to Nairn Rotary Club, who will distribute it to local and Rotary charities.
You must be over 17 years of age on the day of the Challenge to enter the Nairnshire Challenge. There is an entry fee of £45.00 per team. This fee covers administrative costs. Any unused income will be added to the total donated to charity. Your completed entry form with the £45 entry fee should be sent to:
D.Flannigan, Cawdor Street Post Office, Nairn, IV12 4QU
You will then receive 3 sponsorship forms and further details. Entry will be restricted so it would be wise to return your form as soon as possible.
